Halo Reach
It was Bungie who alleged that the future of Halo rested in the hands of the community and with the tools bundled with the final (opening) chapter in the Halo saga they clearly meant it. Forge returns to make a mockery of the original version, the wealth of content and potential second only to its blissful ease of use; the theatre continues to immortalise those laugh-out-loud moments and makes playing games without a replay feature a lesson in disappointment; and the freedom to tweak an almost endless combination of modifiers between games ensures the formula fails to tire. As Bungie move on to pastures new, Reach is a fitting note to end on for the franchise that changed console first person shooters a decade ago.
